There is an awful lot of information in the news lately about the environment. Some people feel that we, as inhabitants of this planet, abuse the environment and do not consider all the damage we do in normal living. There are also people that feel the planet has been around long before humans inhabited it, and will be around long after we manage to destroy all of humanity. Most people, however, are somewhere in the middle. It is important to remember that our environment provides for us, giving us the things we need to survive. It is not something we can be greedy with, nor should we just take it for granted. Yes, the planet was here before humans inhabited it, but that does not mean that what we do to it has no effect. We need to replenish what we do take; the ever increasing population of the world surely takes its toll on the environment. I think at a very minimum people should be conservative in using the resources provided by our planet, be considerate of the environment, try and recycle where possible. While I don’t think we should be overly concerned with the amount of gas a herd of cows has, we should keep a close eye on the emissions from motor vehicles and factories. I do believe the planet and its environment will be here long after man. Let’s face it, if we don’t take it, use up all it has to offer, then it won’t be able to provide for us, and we will die off, not the environment. Over time the planet will re-evolve to what it once was, without anyone taking from it. It has all the time in the world.
